e28 dash vents

hello,
i just bought an '86 528e.i'm not sure how these dash vents work.i'll have the defrost,vents and floor heat on and only get warm air from the defrost and floor,dash vents are cold air.is that just how they work?everything else works but the temp control, the air is warm no matter where the knob is set.

With the new E60's it is still like that. I believe that was the design. The whole heat rises thing. It is pretty comfortable in my opinion. However, it should still provide at least a little warmth. But not the exact temp as the other 2 vents. If it is only cold air then you may want o take it to a service rep and check it out.
