View Full Version : Trouble lights
Out of the blue last night, my speedometer stopped working, my brake & ABS lights came on and mt DSC indicator light came on and won't go out even when I push the DSC button. This AM everything was fine for about 2 miles then the same thing PLUS the check engine soon light. Drives normal, brakes fine. Is there a connection between all these? Anything I can check for before taking it in??
It is a 2000 528i
Thanks
Steve

Could possibly be a bad connection to the ECU. Especially since you've got (somewhat) unrelated errors showing up. Get the codes scanned.

it could be some sensors in your wheel's my 328ci does the same thing some times and i had them replaced once but it did it again in less then a year so i dont know if i would really worry about them or not

Most likely your wheel speed sensor, IIRC the drivers side rear does the speedo along with the one in the dif

It happens due to the bad connection with the ECU only.

it could be the abs control unit thats at fault it is quite common on this model the check engine light comes on because of loss of can communication between the engine /gearbox if auto / and abs e.c.u 's you will need to take it to your local specialist for diagnostic to confirm this
