I am having trouble with my '85 BMW and thought that maybe someone else had the same trouble and could help. The car will not start after sitting in the heat or sun; it starts fine on cool days.
I think that I have isolated it to the ignition system while cranking the engine with the coil wire off and about a quarter inch from ground there is no spark.
Replacing the coil and coil wire made no difference.
The positive side of the coil has 12 volts while cranking and with the key in the on position.
Oh yea, I am a female and have paid hundreds of dollars over the last three years and still have the same problem.
