View Full Version : 540 engine question?
My 1998 540 appears to have a valve knock. It starts at engine start up and at idle, however it doesn't do it all the time. Does anyone have any repair advice or can recommend a non dealer repair shop in Atlanta, GA.

Not an expert but you may want to check the pressure output of the Fuel Pump, or intake manifold.

what gas do you use? if you read the owners manual, it says to use 91 octane because it prevents BMW's from knocking...
I use 93 just to be sure.
But, that is true, low grade gas will effect it
I use 93 octane, it is definatley a valve train issue. I curious about the cost of repair.
